May.18th, 2018, under the guidance of the National Development and Reform Commission, “2018 EU-China Forum on Sustainable Urban Development and Intellectual Science and Technology” was held at Meijiang Convention and Exhibition Center. The forum was co-sponsored by the National Development and Reform - The China Center for Urban Development, JPIUE(Urban Europe Joint Programming Initiative), China City Development Alliance, the Tianjin Development and Reform Commission and the People's Government of the Binhai New Area. In order to further promote practical cooperation between China and Europe in the urbanization partnership, the forum set up “Horizon 2020” EU-China sustainable urbanization partnership project. 

The predecessor of “Horizon 2020” is the Framework Programme for Research which started in 1984. It is an important medium-term scientific research project participated by EU member states and also one of the world’s biggest official comprehensive scientific and technological research and development project. The main content of this project is studying international science and technology difficulties which are leading-edge and competitive. The aim is to  integrate the scientific research resources of EU countries, improve  efficiency, facilitate innovation, promote economic growth and increase employment. “Horizon 2020” is expected to invest nearly 800 billion euros in 7 years (2014-2020). Up to now, there are 12 pairs of cities in the framework of EU-China sustainable urbanization partnership, 4 demonstration zones, and more than 30 in practical cooperation projects.

The project of Shenzhen Guangming EU-China healthcare industry demonstration zone, cooperated by Medical Valley and Shenzhen Guangming New District, has established strategic cooperative relations with many well-known organizations and healthcare enterprises both home and abroad. The project is awarded the plaque of “Eu-China sustainable urbanization partnership city”. Dr. Wu Hui, executive vice president of Medical Valley GmbH; Zhao Caixia, director of Guangming Economic Development Promotion Center attended the ceremony. On behalf of Medical Valley and Shenzhen Guangming New District, Dr. Wu and Ms Zhao expressed their thankfulness to National Development and Reform - The China Center for Urban Development. This project will deepen the communication between the two sides, link the European medical innovation ecology, speed up the project landing process and promote EU-China sustainable development and co-prosperity.
